do they call it "Gold Coast" because there is gold on the coast?

  3. It's in the southeast of Queensland, a fair way north of Sydney.  Probably the best part of a thousand kilometres by road.

    And, no, it's not called the Gold Coast because there is gold there (there isn't). It's called the Gold Coast, because the assumption is that it is always sunny.

  6. No, the Gold Coast is a fair way away. If you are considering visting, do not fly to sydney to get there. Fly to Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, and then you have a 50 minute drive from the airport. If you do fly to Sydney there are direct flights to the gold coast. Recomended to vistit. btw how could you not no where it is???????????? :)
