  1. Very different to visit Sydney and to live there. Quality of life can be much better elsewhere. If you do choose Sydney then I suggest you write down all that interest you..say beaches, place of employment. restaurants, good schools, low crime area then determine if you could actually afford to live in suburbs that comply. Can be stressful place to live and commuting even short distances can be extremely time consuming.

Burraneer Bay, Gunammatta Bay by Cronulla offer beaches, cafe, restaurants, good public transport, reasonable schools etc.  But if you were to work in the western or northern suburbs then spend half your life travelling. I mention these areas as they were the best value beachside areas when I last lived in Sydney. Closer to town much more expensive eg Coogee, Clovelly, Bondi. Northern Beaches area gorgeous but transport to town is bus so very slow. However if work is on upper north shore then perfect.

I would probably seek work in Sydney for the first two years and then see what other areas in Australia appeal. Even though they say there is a need for is qualification does not automatically follow that everywhere needs this trade.

Perth is another option, booming, booming, booming!

  2. You'll find the best and largest selection of jobs will be in the two boom states of Queensland and Western Australia. Perth fits your specifications in every respect and is a lovely city though somewhat isolated over in the west of the country. Brisbane is warmer and handier to everything on the east coast, but doesn't have much in the way of beaches. Its good beaches are around an hour away, but they're some of the best in the country and of course it's close to the famous Gold and Sunshine Coasts.

As you've seen, Sydney is a great city, but it's very expensive to live in the better beachside suburbs and the lifestyle there isn't as relaxed as in other places.

Many of the best jobs are FIFO. If you could both handle that, you would be able to live anywhere e.g. on the Sunshine Coast itself.

  3. I would recommend Sydney and surrounding areas.

  4. Gold Coast

  5. dont come to qld we have no room left

  6. North Sydney.

  7. SYDNEY!!! for sure!

we'd love to have you! The Northern suburbs are the best, esp Northern beaches. If you have the money, go for Curl Curl, Dee Why, Queenscliff, Balgolaw, Frenches Forest, Alambie, Killarney Heights. These suburbs are near the beach (essential for Aussie life) and relatively easy by public transport to get to the city (like Wynyard, Circular Quay, Martin's Place, Town Hall) where your hubby wil prob work if you live in Sydney.

They are also really family orientated communities so excellent choice if you have kids/ are planning them.
