Australian Adam Scott hopes to make it big at this week’s Ballantine’s Championship on European Tour
Australian Adam Scott, ranked number 12 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR), will be the highest ranked player in the field in this week’s Ballantine’s Championship in Korea.
The lanky Aussie hasn’t won an event so far in the calendar year but has pulled in some impressive finishes to stay in the top-15 on the OWGR.
Flying down in the neighbourhood, the Adelaide native will be hoping to bag the latest European Tour title before heading into the thick of the summers.
He said, “I can’t wait to get back to Korea. The club really suits the Ballantine’s brand – it is very classy and just the perfect place for tournament like the Ballantine’s Championship. They are as good a sponsor as we have in Tour”.
Accompanied by Tiger Woods’ former caddie, Steve Williams, Scott is hoping to land the title earlier in the year, particularly after getting a boost from his strong finishes in the preceding events.
He added, “I played really well in China all week and the game feels like it is really coming together. I think over the past six or seven months I have been playing some of the best golf of my career so I am hoping to continue on that path”.
Winner of 18 professional events around the world, Scott plays on both PGA Tour and the European Tour and occasionally participates in Asian Tour events.
He soared to his highest on the OWGR at number three in the year 2007 after his runner up finish at Mercedes-Benz Championship.
Despite of a brilliant career, Scott has not won a major event as yet in his stellar career and has come close of landing the green jacket on several occasions.
With Williams’ immense knowledge of the Augusta National, Scott posted a runner up finish at Masters last year and another joint eighth at the start of this month.
Among other notable players on the field, Scott will face stiff challenge from Open Champion Darren Clarke, Spaniard Miguel Angel Jiménez, Englishman Ian Poulter and Paul Casey and several Korean players who will have the advantage of playing on the home
course.
