Australian Badminton Open: Alamsyah Yunus advances into Men’s Single semi-final
Indonesia’s young shuttler Alamsyah Yunus continues his winning run and he has reached into Men’s Singles semi-final of Yonex Australian Badminton Open, which is in progress in Sydney.
In the quarter-final battle, the in-form Yunus played staggering badminton and remained successful in crushing Korea’s Dong Keun Lee on Friday, April 5.
The 12th seeded Yunus continued his winning run in the tournament as he did not lose his focus at any stage and easily registered a comprehensive win over his un-seeded Korean challenger in straight games with a superb margin of 21-12 and 21-14
in 45 minutes.
On the contrary, the lower ranked Dong Keun tried to maintain his rhythm in the quarter-final battle but he failed to put up strong show against the in-form Yunus. He committed many mistakes and eventually crashed out without impressing the crowd.
The incredible speed and powerful shots of Yunus helped him to take control of the pace from the initial points of opening game.
Yunus was quite quick in taking the bird timely and he did not encounter any problem in hitting his strokes in targeted areas. He remained in dictating position all the way against his Korean rival and managed a remarkable lead until the end of first part.
Dong Keun tried his best to play positive badminton but could not take control of the game and remained struggling in the concluding half.
Yunus remained consistent in employing powerful shots in targeted areas and eventually took the first set with a sound score of 21-12.
Indonesian shuttler did not lose his superiority at any stage in the starting half of second set as he played with control and precision.
The higher ranked Yunus displayed his unmatched skills in the arena by picking the bird timely from all areas and kept his domination over his challenger.
In the second half of second game, the lofty Yunus continued his smooth ride and easily bagged the game with a superb difference of 21-14.
In the semi-final, Yunus will lock horns against the Chinese qualifier Xue Song who continued his giant killing run in the quarter-final battle and outwitted the second seeded Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam.
