Australian Badminton Open: Sapsiree Taerattanachai outshines Alice Wu in Women’s Singles first round
Thailand’s young and passionate shuttler Sapsiree Taerattanachai showed a staggering performance in Women’s Singles first round when she easily outshined her local challenger Alice Wu at Yonex Australian Badminton Open 2013 in Sydney, on Wednesday, April
3.
The second seeded Taerattanachai, who has been playing remarkable badminton in the last six months, found a perfect start as she did not face even a meagre resistance and easily defeated Alice in just 17 minutes.
Thai shuttler tested all of her shots in this opening round clash but she did not lose her grip over the pace of rallies at any stage and easily wrapped up a one-sided victory in straight games with a smashing total of 21-4 and 21-3.
On the other hand, the qualifier Alice could not play positive badminton at any stage and she also failed to match the pace of rallies. She remained struggling all the way and eventually bowed down against her Thai challenger in a lopsided manner.
It was an interesting fight in the opening rallies when Taerattanachai showed attacking display of her craft in the arena. She proved her top quality skills on court and eventually got a strong position on court.
The higher ranked Taerattanachai did not show any sign of confusion in her play at any stage and she remained in complete command of rallies until the one-minute break.
The confused Alice failed to create trouble for her second seeded rival after the mid-game interval. She could not cope up with the pace of the game and remained struggling on court.
Meanwhile, Taerattanachai was very calm and composed in the arena as she did not show any sign of confusion and ended up the first game with a superb margin of 21-4.
In the following game, Taerattanachai played with reasonable speed without leaving any chance for Alice to get a good flow.
Thai lady was at the best of her form and she did not face any problem in setting up a sound gap until the end of first half.
Taerattanachai was calm and composed in the arena in the final points of second set and took the second game with a sound difference of 21-3.
