Australian Closed Championships Sydney: Natasha Sharp topples Beth Hollett in first round showdown
Australia’s Natasha Sharp made her presence strongly felt as she played remarkable badminton in Women’s Singles first set and remained successful in winning against her team-mate Beth Hollett at the 2012 Australian Closed Championships Sydney in Australia,
on Wednesday, August 29.
The in-form Natasha, who is an un-seeded shuttler in the main draw of the tournament, played remarkable game throughout the contest and emerged as the winner without even facing any considerable trouble from her rival.
The impressive Natasha remained confident and aggressive on court as she played fast and positive badminton while remaining quick in all areas and thrashed Beth in straight sets with a spectacular score on the board.
The confused Beth, in the meanwhile, failed to put up strong show as she could not employ her skills effectively and eventually lost the match with a comfortable margin without snatching any set from Natasha.
The starting points of first set were interesting for the local crowd as both shuttlers played fast and positive badminton and remained aggressive on court.
However, Natasha showed up her fabulous craft on court as she played with precision and remained successful in building up a reasonable lead until the end of first half.
After the one-minute rest, Beth tried to reduce the deficit by playing aggressive game but she failed to destroy the defence of her opponent and remained struggling in the concluding phase.
In the meanwhile, Natasha was focused in her play as she did not threw away easy points and ultimately remained successful in finishing off the first set by a superb 21-16 score on the board.
The following set was quite easy for Natasha as she did not let her opponent to play focused game this time as she injected variations in her shots and remained ahead on board until the end of opening part.
The in-form Natasha was in complete control after the mid-game interval and remained positive from all areas of the court and ended up the set with a smashing 21-13 score on the board.
Natasha ended up the match in straight games in just 24 minutes with a superb 21-16 and 21-13.
