Australia’s talented shuttler Talia Saunders advanced into the next round after putting up a strong show in Women’s Singles first round when she remained successful in winning against her compatriot Melinda Sun at the 2012 Australian Closed Championships
Sydney in Australia, on Wednesday, August 29.
The in-form Talia employed all of her skills by digging deep into her reserves and managed to produce impressive shots to get rid of Melinda in a tremendous rubber set with a decent margin on score board.
Talia started her campaign in a quivering fashion as she failed to play positive game and lost the opening set. Nevertheless, she fought back in the following games and won the battle by spending 41 minutes on court.
In the meanwhile, the talented Melinda showed her elevated skills in opening set and took it with a reasonable margin. But she failed to put up fascinating show in the following sets and eventually crashed out in the first round.

After the break, Talia committed a few unforced sending her rival ahead on the board and ultimately lost the first game with a considerable margin of 17-21.
Stung by the loss of opening set, Talia played attacking badminton in the second game and entirely changed the course of the match as she set up an incredible lead until the mid-game break.
After the interval, the impressive Talia continued playing positive badminton without any problem and took the set with a lopsided 21-5 score on the board.
In the decider, Talia progressed in the similar fashion as she did not lose her grip over the pace of rallies and took a staggering lead until the end of opening half.
In the concluding part, the spirited Talia continued putting up gutsy performance without showing any sign of pressure and eventually won the set with a huge margin of 21-13.
Talia won this Women’s Singles first round clash in three sets by a convincing 17-21, 21-5 and 21-13 margin on the board.
