Blizzard steps in after GAME is unable to fulfil pre-orders of Diablo 3 in Australia, while the developers of the game lad the positivity in the game’s active community.
Starting things off with a bit of good news for Australian gamers who had pre-ordered a copy of Diablo 3 from the retailer, GAME, as it turns out that Blizzard is stepping in to deliver the game to the consumer.
Basically, GAME has gone into administration and is therefore unable to deliver on their promise of getting copies of Diablo 3 to those gamers in Australia who had pre-ordered the title. Blizzard is now offering the gamers a way out.
All gamers in the region who have “a valid preorder/prepurchase receipt dated before May 15, 2012” need only go the game’s official website and purchase a digital copy of the title either “now or anytime before May 21, 2012.”
The game can then be played when the servers are live. As for the payment being refunded, in order for gamers to get their GAME money back they simply need to “Submit your GAME Australia preorder/prepurchase receipt to us before June 30, 2012." After which
they will “Receive a credit from Blizzard, for the amount you paid in advance to GAME Australia for Diablo III.”
It seems that keeping their fans happy is a top priority at Blizzard who have had one of the most active communities, in terms of providing feedback, for Diablo 3. When asked if the studio was worried about their fans not liking the game on its release and
whether or not the studio felt any pressure, Blizzard’s Julian Love replied, "No. Not at all.” Before explaining how active and positive the game’s community was.
The Diablo 3 developer said, "Ever since we first put up the website for Diablo 3 we've had a very active fan community. It's much better to have people passionate about your game than not and the trend we've seen is that most fans are positive.”
It will be interesting to see how fans take to a game that has been in development for a considerable amount of time, though it won’t be long now before everyone finds out just how great or awful it is.
