Question:

Australian Doctor?

How much is the salary for a Doctor in Australia?

Duration the medicine course?

Tuition for an international student?

Where is the best?

Where is the cheapest?

Where is the average?

Is becoming a Doctor in Australia is better than becoming a Doctor in the US or Canada? Why?

Thanks!

  1. I'm not entirely sure of salary figures, and even then it varies by specialties, etc. but I'd say some AU$ 200,000+ at the minimum per annum for a general consultant.

Medicine courses are numerous, but you'll be spending roughly 4 years in med school and then an interim term for another 2 to 4 years before practice.

For an international student it depends on the school you want to try but I'd say around some AU$30,000 per annum due to equipment costs and all and since there isn't much choice in what you study outside of medicine related electives(certainly higher than a regular BSc course).

As for 'best' and 'cheapest' and 'average' I can't tell you for certain. There are numerous good medical schools around.

Check Australian university rankings by medicine/science to get a rough idea.

I wouldn't say its better anywhere and I certainly can't pick from those salary-wise; but there is the concern that healthcare in Australia is different from America or Canada.
