Australian Flight Instructor Pay?

Just wondering what kind of pay a fully qualified flight instructor with ATPL and other all other ratings could expect to earn. I realise it depends on where you work, but i was kind of after a minimum-maximum answer so first hand experiance with maybe some details about where you work or something like that would be appreciated. Thankyou

  1. As you say, it is highly dependent upon where you work. According ti IATA, full-time salary ranges in Australia seem to be in the $20,000 to $60,000 AUD range. The lower salary is typical for someone starting out and the higher salary is what a chief flight instructor might make at a major flight school. A flight department manager at a university might make in the $75k range, give or take, but would require 10-15 years experience. Obviously there are very few of the upper salaried jobs compared with the average positions offered. On an hourly basis, which many instructors are paid, the range is about $10 to $35 per instructional hour. Unless salaried, few instructors get to fly 8 hours per day. Based on my own experience in the US, 4 hours flight and 4 hours ground instruction would be a good day.
