  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_...

Typical Breakfast, Dinner Foods, Dessert and Carry Outs.

  2. A typical aussie meal would consist of meat and 3 veg, probably stir-fried or shallow fried. Beef, lamb, chicken, fish.... potatoes, pasta, rice, bread... and some wine

don't forget the vegemite for spreading on toast

  3. Rissoles, mashed potato, peas, corn and carrots.

    Meat pie with tomato sauce.

    Vegemite on toast.

Roast leg of lamb and baked vegetables.

  4. It used to be meat and three veg.  Now it's a culinary paradise where anything's possible and nothing is typical.

Australians are dry.  Brown.  Warm.  Ochre.  They love lots of cultures.  They have a hidden guilt about how they treated the original inhabitants of their country which makes them aggressive.  So: fusion broths with a white wine, followed by  beer and a snag, then a dessert of mud and dry earth and death.

  5. Australians love to BBQ, so I would say steaks, sausages and chicken on the bbq and salads would be the main fare when we get together with friends. A 'typical' meal though, which the majority of people would eat of an evening with their families, I would say any type of meat, such as chicken fillets, pork or lamb chops, various cuts of steaks etc with either salads in summer or 3 serves of hot vegies. Would be hard to define though, as we have a large amount of ethnic communities in our cities and with their influence our cuisine is now varied with most families having pastas, curries, thai food, rice based dishes etc at least a few times a week.

  6. I don't know I have never been there but, I can't imagine it being better that Southern food. I am from the south and we have the best food.

  7. Typical Aussie breakfast -: Vegemite on toast or Weetbix!

Typical Aussie lunch -: Salad sandwich, Chicko Roll (resembling the Chinese spring roll), typical Aussie meat pie etc

Typical Aussie dinner -: 'Meat and 3 veg'... Schnitzel and vegetable, roast meat and vegetables with gravy, rissoles, BBQ etc

Typical Aussie sweets -: Pavlova, Lamingtons, fritters, etc

  8. Probably steak or chicken with salad or veges, or a pasta dish. This would be followed by ice-cream. Not terribly exciting.

  9. You could go to Outback Steak House and find out. :)

No seriously, it pretty much is beer, but nobody there actually drinks Fosters.  They eat very much like we do.

  10. Well when I was very little I ate some Goanna.

A lot Aussies are into KFC, McDonalds etc. (thanks America.. not)

Some people live on pies, steak or sausages (yuck)

Many people (most actually) are "foodies", into gourmet cooking.

So there is no typical Australian meal, but I would say  that generally it's evolvng into a creative and sophisticated multicultural cuisine to reflect the multicultural nature of our society. There are a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan foods too.

It's a great place to live , the food is fresh and very good quality, especially the seafood.

  11. i dunno, i've never been there, have a sister-in-law that's lived there nearly 30 years, and pretty much considers herself australian (from an iowa farm,)... but in my imagination i think about bar-b-qued kangaroo tail, and wombat pie...my wife has been there once, and she says the meat pies that are sold around are great (another iowa farm girl, y'know... they eat just about anything, the dears).  she says the kangaroos are like deer around there, and we eat deer here... hmmmmm........
