Australian High Commissioner keen on seeing Aussie team in Pakistan – Cricket News Update
Peter Hayward, Australian High Commissioner, has expressed keenness at the prospect of seeing the Australian cricket team play a series in Pakistan, adding that he hoped Cricket Australia would consider such a tour in the future.
“I will love to watch http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. We all know the security situation in Pakistan, so we can only hope the tour should happen in near future, as Cricket Australia decides about the tour plan,” the Australian envoy said, as reported
by The Nation.
The security situation in Pakistan has been the main deterrent when it comes to inviting foreign teams to tour the country. Following a militant terrorist attack on the visiting Sri Lankan team in 2009, the Men in Green have been unable to host home series
in their own country, forced instead to resort to neutral venues such as the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033, which have cut into the Pakistan Cricket Board’s budget in a major way.
The board’s efforts to bring about a revival of international cricket in the country have come to naught. Negotiations between the PCB and Bangladesh Cricket Board appeared to be yielding fruitful results earlier this year, with a delegation from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747
having visited the country and approved the security situation.
However, the tour was later called off after the Dhaka High Court passed a ruling forbidding the board from sending the team to Pakistan, owing to the precarious security situation. Since then, the PCB has managed to arrange a tour for a touring British
Universities team, but the remainder of the international fixtures are being held in neutral venues.
The latest is an upcoming series against Australia, due to be played in the UAE. The tour involves an only ODI between Australia and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745 on August 25, which will be followed by a 3-match ODI series between Australia and Pakistan from August 28 to
September 3, and a 3-match T20I series, to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium from September 5 to 10.
Owing to weather conditions, the composition of the series was initially being fixed as 6 T20Is, for which special permission had been obtained from the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625. However, the schedule was converted back to the original plan for 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is in order to
satisfy a broadcasting deal.
