Australian Icons?

Is it fair that animals who lack the basic ability to walk backwards (Kangaroos & Emus) are allowed to represent Australia, despite not being able bodied and also do nothing to advance Australia in any means other than being effective road kill and laying rather large eggs?

  1. I'm interested that you call the kangaroo and the emu 'not able bodied'. I suggest you never get into a fight with either, as they can be very destructive to our weak human frame, despite our stunning ability to walk backwards.

  2. I thought Foster's Beer was the Australian icon...

    ( ' . ')

    (")_(")

  3. There is no where else in the world where a Kangaroo can ever represent a country. Australia is full of them. The Kangaroo is an Icon on the Qantas Airways Tail section. How else would you recognize an Australian airline. There is a very popular TV show in the mid 70's Skippy the Bush Kangaroo.

Although the Kangaoo is very nice to eat and also good for you, as it is lean and has only 2% fat. Sorry to mention this if you are a vegan!

I don't know much on the Aussie Emu, But they do look like a very odd bird.

  4. id like to see how you fair against what you call (not able bodied ),you wouldn't last a minute

you would be taking a backwards step real bloody fast!

  5. Don't forget tat they both make a d**n fine meal.  I have seen a menu item called "The Coat of Arms" in a restaurant.

Emu does not taste like chicken.

  6. We tried to interchange these with "Bogans", but decided that since they lack the basic ability to walk backwards and also do nothing to advance Australia in any means other than being effective road kill and laying rather large eggs, what was the point, since we already had animals with these qualities on the coat of arms.

  7. The kangaroo and emu represent Australia because not only are they unique to our country but they "never take a backward step".

That phrase has a completely different meaning to "lack the basic ability to walk backwards".

To me the difference is obvious.

    "not being able bodied"

I agree with the others, it's plain to see you've never seen a hunting dog gutted by a kangaroo or emu.

Both can be very dangerous creatures.
