Question:

Australian Liberal Party and Labor Party Question?

We've been asked to evaluate the following:

'Liberal governments are pro-Washington, are fearful of Asia and prefer bi-lateral foreign policy mechanisms', and 'Labor governments are pro-Asia, are fearful of Washington and prefer multilateral foreign policy mechanisms'.

I was wondering about the reasons for this, and how they may have come about.

I know Howard had a lot more to do with Bush then Rudd does, and Rudd works a lot more with China and Japan, but why is this?

  1. The Labor party does, because Australia and China are neighbours and is one of Australia's strongest business and trading partners, being that Australia is part of the Oceania Australasia pacific region.

John Howard tried to bring Americanism to Australia with work choices and many other bills which the Australian public rejected, we all know where that landed him and the Liberal Party.
