Australian Masters moves back to the Kingston Heath Golf Club – Golf News
The PGA Tour officials have announced that the Australian Masters will remain at the Melbourne sandbelt, while changing back the course from Victoria Golf Club to Kingston Heath Golf Club.
For the last two years, Victoria Golf Club has been hosting the event, as Kingston Heath lost its hosting rights after  the staging of the event in 2009. Tiger Woods was the player who earned the victory in 2009.
The announcement was made while the dates for the key tournaments on the PGA Tour of Australasia were being confirmed. As per the new schedule, the Australian Masters will be played from November 15 to 18, 2012.
Apart from the Masters, the dates and venues for the Australian PGA Championship,
New Zealand Open, Australian Open and Perth International have also been finalised by the tour officials.
According to Brian Thorburn, the Chief Executive of PGA of Australia, the Tour was a great success in the last season and a number of players preferred playing different tournaments on the schedule.
Therefore, the tour officials are continuously working on making the entire season a sensational one to be remembered.
“Last year's PGA Tour of Australasia season set a new benchmark for tournament golf in Australia and we are working towards again delivering a sensational season for golf fans all across the country,” he said.
Apart from that, he also said that the players will be offered with greater prize money this year compared to the past, making the tournament more attractive.
With the increase in number of big names coming to Australia to participate in the events, the venue officials will have a great challenge ahead of them to provide state-of-the-art facilities to the participants.
“It is expected that the full 2012 PGA Tour of Australasia schedule will comprise of 14 events in total, with an increase in prize-money of over 35 per cent compared to 2011”.
This will also result in boosting the tourism industry in Australia, as more and more golf lovers will travel to the country to watch their favourite players playing live on the course.
