Australian National Junior squad selected for the year 2011-12
Australian junior hockey squad has been announced for the year 2011-12 along with the team for the Sultan Johor Cup, which is going to be held in Johor, Malaysia from November 5. The selection has been made after a thorough analysis of the athletes’ performance
in the recently held Under-21 National Championship.
The team has been selected by keeping in mind the 2013 Junior World Cup and the qualification round, which will be held in 2012. The junior national team will be reselected in July 2012 after the Under-21 national Championships for the next season.
Australia’s national junior squad consists of the following athletes:
Luke Noblett, Tarrant Haami-Jones, Jeremy Hayward, Jake Farrell, Liam Alexander, Daniel Beale, Dylan Wotherspoon, Jack Wallace, Aaron Kershaw, Flynn Ogilvie, Oscar Wookey, Aran Zalewski, Brodie Sarre, Kieran Arthur, Jeremy Edwards,
Billy Shaw, Lewis Matthews, Tyler Cowley, Cameron Joyce, Joshua Walters, Kane Posselt, Craig Coulson (GK) Edward Chittleborough (GK) and Johan Durst (GK).
Meanwhile, the Australian junior athletes have also been announced for the Sultan Johor Cup in Johor, Malaysia which will be played from November 5 to 12 this year. In the event, New Zealand, Australia, Korea and India will participate
along with the hosts, Malaysia while the participation of the junior Greenshirts is still to be decided.
Australian juniors’ tour to Malaysia will be through the openhanded assistance by the Australian Junior Commonwealth Games Squad Program (AJCGS) which has been premeditated to support the junior athletes to get international experience
and exposure by competing in different environments across the world and this will help them in future when they will be the part of the national squad.
The touring squad for the Sultan Johor Cup includes the following junior athletes:
Liam Alexander, Flynn Ogilvie, Luke Noblett, Tarrant Haami-Jones, Jack Wallace, Joshua Walters, Jeremy Hayward, Daniel Beale, Tyler Cowley, Brodie Sarre, Kane Posselt, Cameron Joyce, Kieran Arthur, Dylan Wotherspoon, Jeremy Edwards,
Billy Shaw, Edward Chittleborough (GK) and Johan Durst (GK).
The team will have the services of Paul Gaudoin as Head Coach, Matthew Wells as Assistant Coach and Melissa Hall as Coach as well as the Manager, while Tim Bass will serve as the Physio.
