Australian & New Zealand Currencies?

Question

We are going to Australia and New Zealand next year and I need to know whether its a good idea and/or necessary to exchange US dollars for Australian dollars and New Zealand dollars? Will I need Aussie dollars for the taxi cab from the airport to the hotel; for shopping for souvenirs from a market, or small store; for tipping; and for things we may buy from a street vendor?? Then if I buy Aussie dollars will they be any good (accepted) in New Zealand for the same type activities (i.e. taxi, small purchases) or will I need some of both currencies ??

you will have to change your american dollars into Australian and New Zealand dollars, they wont accept American dollars in taxi etc,

and in New Zealand, they wont accept Australian dollars in taxi.

But when you arrive to Auckland, you will be able to change your money there very easily

US dollars are not being accepted as an alternative currency to local currencies as they were in the past in many places.  This is especially true in Central and South America and probably the lst is growing in more and more parts of the world as the dollar becomes worth less and less.  You'll probably need both Aussie and Kiwi currency.  The US dollar is collapsing so you might want to get some soon.  Good luck and have fun.

You would need to exchange your US dollars for Australian or New Zealand dollars You can do this at the airport once you have arrived.Because yes, you would need the relevant currency for taxis and day to day expenses.

No, they will not accept Australian dollars for payment in NZ.You can use a credit card - Visa, or Mastercard are probably best. Most but not all places take American Express or Diners.

Tipping is not usual in Australia or New Zealand. People do it in restaurants sometimes but it is not expected like it is in the US.They are paid a proper wage, so it is for service above and beyond what you would expect.

I suggest just taking out smaller amounts of money from a money machine regularly so you are not left with too much to change back into the next currency you will need.We have plenty of EFTPOS machines and if you purchase at a supermarket you can often get extra cash out.

You will need to exchange your currency for New Zealand Dollars and Australian Dollars. The rates differ. Check the link Below to get a guide to the current rates. ATM are widely spread around both countries so accessing cash using a cash card/Visa Card etc will not present a problem. If you wish to take cash to exchange instead of using a cash card, then The ANZ bank in New Zealand offers a good rate of exchange as does the ANZ in Australia. However there are currecny exchange houses throughout the major cities but commission charges will differ.

yep you'll definetly need some kiwi dollars for sure. Aussie dollars are no good and US definetly not. plenty of places available to change your money though
