Australian Open 2012: Lin Wang thunders as Inthanon Ratchanok surrenders in pre quarter-finals
The young female Chinese shuttler Lin Wang successfully continued her journey in Australian Open GP Gold by outshining another top contender Inthanon Ratchanok from Thailand in a second round match on April 5, 2012.
The spirited shuttler completely outclassed the fourth seeded player Inthanon in a 42-minute tussle and casted her rival out with an impressive score of 17-21, 21-9 and 21-8 at the end.
Lin Wang, who surged into main draws by clearing the qualifiers, will now face the World Number 14 Korean shuttler Bae Youn Joo in the quarter-finals.
Earlier, in her pre quarter-final tussle she could not take a desired start as she lost the first match point despite of putting up a great show of skills.
World Number ten Thai shuttler Inthanon Ratchanok applied her experience and brilliance in the game. Though, she won the opening set but it was not smooth sailing for her as Lin Wang registered her presence by putting up a decent total of 17 points in concluding
margin of 21-17.
The following game turned into a nightmare for Inthanon as she could not wake up in time and lost the crucial game in practice match style.
The talented Lin launched a swift attack and Thai defence collapsed in front of intensive invasion. The Chinese girl established a quick lead on the board which remained unbeatable until the last shot of the game when she levelled the lead with a convincing
margin of 21-9.
Lot of fireworks was expected in the decider but it turned one-sided tussle as one of the best shuttlers of the world, Inthanon Ratchanok could not match Lin Wang.
Lin Wang, who was an underdog in the event, did not spare any loophole for her top ranked rival and dominated in all areas of the game. She was everywhere in the court and her Thai challenger had no reply to her brilliant strokes.
The fourth seeded Inthanon had to face an immediate exit from the event after reading the final figures of 21-8 on the scoreboard.
This splendid win placed Lin in the top eight shuttlers of Women’s Singles event and now she will resume her marathon against Bae Youn Joo of Korea in the quarter-finals.
