Australian Open GP Gold: Misha Zilberman ousts Jarolim Vicen in Men’s Singles first round
Israel’s Misha Zilberman proved his mettle as he overpowered Slovakia’s Jarolim Vicen in Men’s Singles first round at 2012 Australian Open GP Gold in Australia, on Tuesday, April 3.
Zilberman found a good start in the tournament by getting success in the first-round clash though he had to work hard in beating his Slovak opponent.
On the other hand, Jarolim put up remarkable show of quality badminton but failed to maintain his elevated performance in the final set and lost the contest in three games in 44 minutes.
The in-form Zilberman started the opening set in an attacking way but his opponent was also quick enough to return his powerful strokes in right areas.
Jarolim played with precision and pushed his opponent everywhere in the court. Both men played fast and accurate game until the interval where they were progressing while remaining close.
Nevertheless, Zilberman showed his hard-to-learn skills in the concluding part of opening set and remained successful in ending it with a dramatic 21-19 score on the board.
In the following set, Jarolim entered into the court with an aggressive approach as he did not spare even a single chance to bury the bird in his opponent’s court.
He did not let his rival to dictate the pace of rallies anymore and was miles ahead on the score board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Zilberman tried to elevate his play but failed to create gaps in his rival’s court and lost the game with a one-sided margin of 12-21.
In the deciding set, Zilberman was everywhere in the court as he took over the control from his Slovak opponent and managed to dictate the pace of rallies with his fantastic craft.
On the other hand, Jarolim could not continue his positive play in the deciding game and remained struggling. Until the break, he was far behind his opponent on the score board.
Zilberman was focused in the concluding half of final set and managed to win it with an impressive margin of 21-8.
This entertaining fight ended with Zilberman’s victory by a 21-19, 12-21 and 21-8 score on the board.
