Australian Open GP Gold: Nguyen Tien Minh hammers Alamsyah Yunus in Men’s Singles quarter-final
Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh delivered a sensational performance in Men’s Singles quarter-final when he hammered Indonesia’s Alamsyah Yunus in a fascinating manner at the Australian Open GP Gold 2012 at Sydney, Australia, on Friday, April 6.
Tien Minh, who has been positioned at number 12 in the world and fourth seed in Australian Open, put up a spectacular show of attacking badminton and emerged as the winner in an impressive manner.
The Vietnamese did not show even a slight sign of mercy to his Indonesian rival and bagged the contest in straight sets by consuming just 36 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Alamsyah was helpless against the power play and perfection of Tien Minh throughout the contest and crashed out without creating an impact.
In the first few rallies of opening game, both shuttlers showed an impressive performance and remained close until the score reached at 5-5.
Tien Minh started to play aggressively from this stage and managed to create pressure on his lower ranked Indonesian opponent.
Until the one-minute interval, the fourth seeded Vietnamese was moving far ahead on the board by reaching at 11-5.
After the break, Alamsyah tried to find a good flow but failed to cope up with the pace of the game and remained struggling.
On the other hand, Tien Minh was in commanding position as he remained in control and ended the opening set with a sensational 21-9 score on the board.
In the second set, Alamsyah tried to put up strong resistance in the opening rallies but failed to live up to expectations. He made many unforced mistakes which helped Tien Minh to stretch his lead.
Until the mid-game interval, the Vietnamese was in a strong position by reaching at 11-5.
After the interval, Alamsyah almost gave up as he failed to take the bird early and was also lacking the finishing touch in his shots.
