Australian Open GP Gold finals: Markis Kido, Hendra Setiawan oust Chieh Min, Sheng Mu

The Men’s Doubles honour belonged to Indonesia as its couple Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan stamped the Taipei pair Fang Chieh Min-Lee Sheng Mu in the final match of Australian Open GP Gold on April 8, 2012.
The reigning Olympic Champion duo proved its supremacy by placing significant figures of 21-16 and 21-15 in the score.
Partnership of Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan displayed supreme badminton skills throughout the 30-minute tussle and wrapped the show in just two games.
The opening game turned a one sided match after the first few minutes when the Taipei shuttlers earned some quick points but the Indonesians put their expedition to halt by launching an intensive attack.
They equalled the score first and then never looked back after leaving their challengers behind on the scoreboard.
Former World Champions Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan pushed their rivals in all areas of the court and scored three consecutive points to jump on to 6-3 score position.
After the mid-game break they created a huge gap by climbing up further and raised their lead to five points with 17-12 score on the board.
At this point the World Number 10 duo Chieh Min and Sheng Mu tried to step forward on the scoreboard but they could not come out of five-point deficit and the Indonesians bagged the first set with a distinctive margin of 21-16.
In second game of the match, the World Number 12 pair Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan was even more impressive against their higher ranked rivals as they proved themselves world’s best at beating the shuttlecock.
Indonesians did not spare any loop holes and attacked at the right spots. They established a comfortable lead with 11-7 score in first half of the set.
After the interval the Taipei couple Chieh Min-Sheng Mu tried to rise on their toes by winning three consecutive points after 7-13 score position and put some life into a dead contest.
However, the Men’s Doubles experts of Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan did not take the pressure as they kept on playing attacking badminton. They emerged as Champions after sealing a straight-set victory with 21-15 score on the cards.
