Three rounds in and there are a couple of guys who might make a surprise run to the Australian Open final, and both have done it before. Marcos Baghdatis was the 2006 runner-up but if he’s to get that far again has to first get past Lleyton Hewitt and then potentially Roger Federer. Perhaps it’s Jo-Wilfried Tsonga who presents the bigger threat. The tenth seed is not that far off the pace, but nor was he among the favourites before the tournament. But the Frenchman pounded the USA’s Taylor Dent in his last match, where he smacked 42 winners and produced just 10 unforced errors in an ominous display of form.
