Coca Cola Australian PGA Championship is underway at the Hyatt Regency Coolum Golf Club in Australia.
Bobby Gates and Andrew Buckle have surged to early score with a score of 64 each. Gates who hails from America compiled the scorecard with seven birdies, one eagle, and one bogey. Meanwhile, Buckles dropped two shots, but managed ten birdies on the par-72
course.
They were chased by a trio of Liang Wen-chong, Peter Fowler, and Steven Bowditch. The Chinese chose front-nine as his battle ground and birdied the second and third hole for a warm up. With a gap of a green, Wen-chong flew three successive birdies on the
following holes, and capped the first half with one more.
However, he failed to match his superb putting on the back and dropped a shot at the first hole of par-4. He picked up a point on the next hole, but once again missed the 13th fairway, and plucked one more bogey man for his scorecard. Wen-chong
drafted two more birdies along with a bogey and wrapped the day with a score of 66.
On the other hand, Fowler smashed seven birdies against one bogey whereas Bowditch eagled the first hole and wrapped the scorecard with four birdies.
One stroke below them was a group of five veterans. The group comprising of one Asian and four Aussies drafted a score of 67 and seized a share in sixth place. All veterans except James Nitties are Titleist users.
Peter Senior, Robert Allenby, and Geoff Ogilvy gave a terrible start and hardly managed a round of 70. The trio finished at the 37th place despite having an edge of home ground. Ogilvy seemed confused as he coupled a birdie and a bogey after a
gap of each hole. He picked up six birdies against four bogeys. Meanwhile, Senior helped three birdies in the front and failed to pick a point in the back.
The worst score was compiled by Sean Crowe. The Aussie’s scorecard showed shades of blues. He made four bogeys and six double bogeys against a single birdie.
