  1. Yes she is 'Queen Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'.  and also Canada and Australia and head of the Commonwealth.........

  2. Yes, but she pretty much leaves Australia to its own devices though. :)

But Australia hasnt yet gone down like the other countries, its because it has the hand of Britain in it.

    Go England!

    :) :) :) :) :)

  3. Yes, she is, it makes me sad.

I'll be even sadder when Big Ears is king.

  4. Our Queen Elizabeth is the Queen of all Common wealth Countries. She is also the Queen for New Zealand. Aren't we lucky by  having a Queen we can't have a dictator.  She visits occasionally I think the last time was during the Olympics here. The Governor General Is her representative. We still have a Prime Minister just like England does and our Government runs our country so her role here is not big but she is there if needed

  5. She is the head of all the Commonwealth countries, which include Canada, Jamaica, India and Australia. Just a figure head.

  6. Yes

  7. Yes and damned lucky those convicts are for her continuing to be so.

  8. Yes, she is.

    Cheers :-)

  9. Yes, definitely. I think it was Goff Whitlam who made that goof

  10. Australia is part of the commonwealth if thats what you mean

  11. Yes. She is represented by the Governor General.

  12. How very interesting that there are three people giving all the answerer's 'thumbs down'.  What on earth for?  It is a very simple and un-provocative question about a very harmless figurehead?  And there aren't any objecting messages.  How weird???

  13. Yes.  Australia is part of the British Empire.  (colony?)  Thus, the Queen of England is the Queen of Australia.  Also of Canada, New Zealand, Gibraltar, and until not too long ago, Hong Kong.  I think that's about what's left of the British Empire.  Hong Kong went back to China in 1997?  99?  can't remember the year.

  14. The monarchy of Australia is a system of government in which a hereditary monarch is the sovereign of Australia.

Elizabeth II, officially called Queen of Australia, who has reigned since 6 February 1952. The heir apparent is Elizabeth's eldest son, Prince Charles, though the Queen is presently the only member of the Royal Family with any constitutional role. She, her husband and consort, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, and other members of the Royal Family, including the Queen's other children and cousins, undertake various public ceremonial functions across Australia and on behalf of Australia abroad.

The royal power within the Commonwealth of Australia is exercised by a Governor-General in accordance with the Australian Constitution. In the federal jurisdiction, the sovereign does not exercise these powers in person, save for a few specific duties, but may perform certain ceremonial functions in person, such as the opening of parliament. In each of the states, the monarch may perform the governors' functions in person when in the state herself. There is a debate about whether the Governor-General or the sovereign is head of state.

The Australian monarch, besides reigning in Australia, separately serves as monarch for each of fifteen other Commonwealth countries. This developed from the former colonial relationship of these countries to Britain, but they are now independent and the monarchy of each is legally distinct.
