What is the difference between a single unbroken road line, compared to 2 unbroken road lines? Do they serve the same purpose such as no parking, overtaking etc... or do they have different purposes/functions?

  1. Good question!  I've just checked on the Vicroads site (vicroads.vic.gov.au) and apparently a single continuous line is just like a single broken line - they both just indicate the centre of the road and you must keep to the left (unless turning or overtaking).

Double continuous lines, on the other hand, are very absolute - you can't cross them at all - even to turn.
