Question:

Australian Student VISA Ban Waiver?

It turned out that our youngest member of the family has been skipping classess in 2006, and was stopped at the airport and his VISA has become invalid.

It is now June 2008 and he has obtained a Certificate of Enrollment from RMIT and advice from his Program Coordinator that he needs compelling reasons for DIMIA (Department of Immigration and Multicultural International Affairs) to waiver his ban.

Now failing that (it gets rejected), we may turn to Legal Services for help. Has anyone had any success with Legal Help for waivering bans?

What should we expect?

Thanks!

  1. Strangely enough this is kinda like what happened to me.

I can't answer the legal bit, but the compelling reasons have to be something that affects an Australian Permanent Resident, or Australia's Business Interests.

    Good luck!
