Question:

Australian Student Visa after grad?

I'm a high school student living in Vancouver, BC. I will be graduating in January 2009, and I'll be 17 at the time. I'm hoping to go to Sydney perhaps in February 2009, and possibly live there for a while. I have family that I could stay with but I would really like to work while I'm there. I may not be going to university there, but rather just have the experience of life in Australia. Would I still be eligible for a student visa? How much money should I have to begin with when I go there? I tried a few websites to get some info on student visa's but a lot of it wasn't quite clear and they didn't really answer of the questions that I have. HELP?!

  1. H i Sydream  I have a web site that should solve your problem.

You might need a work visa rather than a student one if so you will find the answer on my site. http://www.perth-getaways.com/Live-in-Au...

  2. For information on student visas, go to

http://www.immi.gov.au/students/ and trawl around in there. From there, you can follow links to info on work visas.

For more specific info on being an International student in Australia, go to the uni websites like http://www.usyd.edu.au/fstudent/internat...

  3. Hi there!

An Australian Student Visa requires you to select a registered course by an Australian Education Institution (eg. university), and the course must be full time.

You are allowed to work while studying in Australia and include family dependents in your application. You can check out the requirements here http://www.nationalvisas.com.au/student/...

If you would like to travel Australia for work (temporarily), what you need is a working holiday visa. This visa allows you to travel around Australia (up to 12 months) with the option of part-time or casual employment. But you must be at least 18 to apply for this visa. See http://www.nationalvisas.com.au/working/...

Hope you can find the visa you need, good luck! :)

  4. you have to be accepted in a school before you can apply for a student visa,so if you do not intend to study you will not get a student visa. And to get a work permit you need to be a skilled worker

why not try the 12 month working holiday visa? but you need to be 18 to qualify for that
