One of my friends is moving to Australia for good. She is going in November for a month just to see what its all about and wants to know how much money she needs. SO, my question is, are there any online supermarkets that she can go onto so she can use groceries as a guidline as to what things cost in Aus?

  1. Depending on where your friend is going to live the prices can be very very high.  I live in Hobart Tasmania and for the most part, housing, food, petrol and the cost of living is about double what it is in the average US city -- rates up there with LA or NYC.  Two cups of coffee cost almost $9.  Tell her she can only bring in $10,000 or she has to report any additional.  She will also need to get a visa.  Minimum wage here in Tasmania is around $12 per hour but it doesn't go far.  Petrol is about $7.00 a gallon.  If she is looking for American food products she can go to USA Foods in Melbourne and pay $12 for a box of cereal or $8 for a small box of Bisquick  They are online just google USA Foods Melbourne

  2. http://coles.com.au/

    http://woolworths.com.au/

these two are the biggest supermarkets in Australia
