Australian Team finalised its roster for the Track World Championships
Team Australia announced its final squad for the 2012 UCI Track World Championships scheduled in Melbourne next week.
The event will be held in Hisense Arena from April 4-8 and the Australian side has finalised its best side for the home event.
Kevin Tabotta of Cycling Australia National Performance Director noted, "All credit to Mitch for his fantastic contribution this season through the World Cup rounds and for his commitment during the training camp".
"We certainly see him as a rider with a future ahead of him and a prospect for the program in coming years".
"But a decision has now been made and five riders are in contention for a start in the line up to ride the qualifying round of the team pursuit on Wednesday afternoon".
The total number of six riders in the sprint group comprise of Kaarle McCulloch, Anna Meares, Matthew Glaetzer, James Glasspool, Shane Perkins and Scott Sunderland.
Mitchell Mulhern has been dropped out form the final squad of men’s endurance squad and the final list of twelve cyclists consists of Ashlee Ankudinoff, Amy Cure, Annette Edmondson and Melissa Hoskins.
Josephine Tomic, Jack Bobridge, Rohan Dennis, Alexander Edmondson, Michael Hepburn, Leigh Howard, Cameron Meyer and Glenn O'Shea will complete the final list of Endurance group for the event.
The schedule for the 2012 version of UCI Track World Championships is as under:
Men’s Team Pursuit on Wednesday, Women’s Team Sprint and Men’s scratch race on Wednesday April 4th, 2012.
Women’s Sprint, Women’s Team Pursuit, Men’s Omnium, Men’s Kilometre TT and Women’s Points Race on Thursday, April 5th, 2012.
Men’s Sprint, Women’s Omnium and Women and women’s scratch race are scheduled on Friday, April 6th, 2012.
Men’s Individual Pursuit, Women’s Keirin and Men’s Points Race will be held on Saturday, April 7th, 2012.
Men’s Keirin, Women’s Individual Pursuit, Women’s 500m Time Trial and Men’s Madison are scheduled on Sunday, April 8th, 2012.
All the top cycling teams are now warming up for the 2012 edition of the UCI Track World Championships.
The contest will serve as a warm up event for the biggest sporting year of the 2012 season, The 2012 Olympic Games.
