Australian Universities- I live in England?

Hi

I was pondering the thought of maybe visiting university in Australia... I live in ENgland currently. I was wondering what anybody thinks- I don't actually know anyone who lives in Australia, but it's such a beautiful country.

What are good universities? The qualities I'm thinking of are: good standards, nice area, good social scene, good reputation, etc.

I was also wondering.. if I got a degree in Australia would it be the same as a degree in England. E.g if I returned to England to get a job, would the degree still count?

generally if you got a degree in australia it would be reconisged world wide, in particular in england but make sure with the uni before you apply - they are more than approachable.  the ANU in canberra is australia's best uni according to many world university guides and is rated as the third best uni in Asia/Pacific.  

Other than that uni's such as:

- Uni of Syd

- Uni of NSW

- Uni of Melb

- Flinders etc
