Australian born Chad Randall signs a new two-year deal with Harlequins - Rugby League
London based English rugby league club, Harlequins, has confirmed the extension of contract for their Australian born hooker Chad Randall. The club announced the two-year extension of Randall’s contract in a statement released on their website on Wednesday,
July 13.
The statement read, “Harlequins RL are pleased to announce that Chad Randall has put his name to another two-year deal.”
The versatile forward can play at both hooker and the halfback position and the New South Wales born Randall was a professional Australian rugby league player before moving to England. He signed with the Quins on a short six-month contract at the start
of the Super League season.
The 30-year-old Randall started his professional rugby league career with the Northern Eagles in 2002. After 13 appearances for the Eagles in the season, Randall signed a two-year contract with Manly – Warringah. Randall joined Warringah in the start of
the 2003 season and played 53 games for them in two seasons and scored 28 points.
In 2006, Randall joined the Harlequins Rugby League club and since then has made 142 appearances for the Quins and scored 149 points.
Harlequins head coach, Rob Powell, has expressed his delight at securing the services of the experienced hooker for another two years. He termed his retention at the club as important. Powell said, “Chad’s a very highly regarded player within the competition
and we're happy to retain a player of his quality. He has been a key player and leader in the group for a number of years. "
Randall, who is now settled in England, has expressed his satisfaction with the new contract that will allow him to further his stay at the club. He added, “My wife and kids are pretty happy here, we love London and the club's great.”
Randall further added that he never seriously considered parting ways with the club. He expressed his hope that he can help his side win the title next season. Randall has also expressed his satisfaction with the team’s management and the coaching staff’s
vision for the team. He has also praised the team’s recent strong recruitment campaign to strengthen their squad for next season.
Randall further added, “They're definitely looking to bolster the squad for next year, which is good, it's an exciting time. With another pre-season and under the way Powelly (Coach Rob Powell) wants us to play, hopefully we'll be able to continue the run
we had at the start of the season a bit longer.”
Quins are currently placed in 12th position in the 2011 Super League table with just 11 points after they had won five of their 21 matches in the season.
