Australian fans deserve consistent performances from their team, says Mickey Arthur – Cricket News Update
After witnessing his team being outplayed in the recently concluded One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mickey-Arthur-c1969, the Australian coach, admits that his side must work hard to retain their top ranking.
Since failing to defend the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 and company came to England with a hope to dismantle the home team, even without the services
of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MEK-Hussey-c1942, the two greats of the 2000s.
The Kangaroos however, failed to even compete against the Poms and were whitewashed in the five-match series, with the third ODI abandoned due to rain. The Baggy Greens, who were the undisputed rulers of the cricketing world in the late 1990s and the 2000s,
looked a far inferior team and struggled to match England’s brilliance in any department of the game.
Arthur, who took over the role last year, is delighted with his side’s performance in the longer version of the sport recently but feels that they have been disappointing in the 50-overs format.
"I've always said there has been something missing in our one-day squad," Arthur said. "Our Test team is very settled - it's hardnosed, it fights hard and it knows its role exactly.”
The Aussies won the triangular series held at home earlier this year, which included http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, but Arthur wants his boys to raise their game, in order to remain the number one ranked ODI team of the globe.
Pieces of brilliance do not impress the Aussie mentor, who believes in delivering the goods on regular basis as the fans want http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stephen-Rodger-Waugh-c91216.
“Even though we won the Commonwealth Bank series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, we were a little too inconsistent for my liking. That's been a trait of this team so far and I don't like that. We've got to get back to winning consistently because that's what the public of
Australia deserve and that's what we stand for as the Australian cricket team,” the South African said.
