Australian fast bowler, Mitchell Johnson declares to work hard
Australian fast bowler, Mitchell Johnson has said that he needs to keep his head straight, to get back into the Australian side. Australia decided to axe Mitchell Johnson from their 13 man squad, after he delivered a dismal performance in the first Ashes Test. For http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, the timings could not have been worse as they would be heading into the second Ashes Test, without their most experienced bowler. The psychological impact that this decision would create on Australia would be one to look for, as they would be heading into the Adelaide Test with a line-up that has not played many Test matches. But overall, it is a blow for the Aussies, as now they expect that the replacement bowler will deliver a good performance for them.
Mitchell Johnson said that he is disappointed of being dropped from the side, but at the same time he knows that it’s not the end of the world for him. Normally, sides do drop players who don’t perform well, and it takes a lot of effort from them to get their place back in the side. Mitchell Johnson was a major disappointment for Australia in the first Ashes Test, as he was not able to have any serious impact on the opposition. Not only he went wicket-less in the Test match but he was also not able to create any pressure on the English batsmen. In the second innings, England was under all sorts of pressure and had to cover a deficit of 221 runs, to save the Test match. At that time there was a serious need for a strike bowler to get some quick wickets for Australia. Johnsons bowling was way-ward and he failed to keep the batsmen away, from scoring runs. If the strike bowler is going for runs then the opposition has the upper hand. Johnson went for 170 runs in the Test match and his economy rate was around four runs per over.
Mitchell Johnson, who has taken 166 wickets in Test cricket, said that there are still a lot of Tests left in the series and he will work hard to fight his way back into the Test team. He further proclaimed that he will go into the nets and work hard on his bowling.
