Australian football gets boost ahead of the New Zealand and Serbia friendlies
With the Australian team preparing for the upcoming international friendlies against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Serbia-c3002, the stars have regained their lost touch. The news has come as a boost for the Australian football team. Manager Holger Osieck has also expressed
his delight upon knowing the achievements of several of his players.
He especially hailed the performance of striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nagoya-Grampus-c39993 won that game by a 5-2 margin. This was the striker’s first goal
in three months – it came at the right time some would say.
The 28-year-old was facing injury problems earlier and was sidelined for almost a month’s time as a result. He made a comeback just a few weeks back and was pleased to regain his form. He also wished to continue in the same vein of form during the games
against New Zealand and Serbia and confirmed about his fitness ahead of the encounters.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfL-Wolfsburg-c40881 player was the top scorer in J-League last season but had an indifferent 2010/11 campaign. This season, the striker managed only four league appearances, netting in twice during the process. Since joining the Japanese outfit in 2009,
the Australian international has appeared 50 times for the Grampus to date, scoring 26 goals.
Osieck hoped that the striker could maintain his fitness for the upcoming matches and added that Kennedy would play a key role if he stays fit.
Another one of Australia’s key player, Carl Valeri, has also been included in the Socceroos line-up to take on the likes of New Zealand and Serbia. The defensive midfielder plays for the Serie B side, Sassuolo Calcio, and made a significant impact towards
the end of the season which ensured Sassuolo’s survival in the Serie B.
Valeri played a key role in his team’s last game against the sixth placed Reggina which they won by a 3-2 margin. This victory ensured Sassuolo’s survival otherwise they would have to compete in the relegation play-off’s.
The 26-year-old was delighted to avoid those play-offs which could have forced the midfielder out of the Aussie line-up.
The manager would now be hoping that his star players work wonders when they start their international campaign against neighbours New Zealand.
