  6. While I sympathise with yor position, does it occur to you that this might be the first your mother's husband, children etc know of your existence, and that it could cause your mother all sorts of problems in her home life? Or that the circumstances surrounding your birth and adoption may be something she does not wish to revisit.

Sorry, but your biological mother  has rights too, and you have NO right to barge into her life without even knocking. You're 38; do her the common courtesy of thinking about someone else for a change (after all, you didn't bother when your adoptive parents were alive, and you're hardly a child). I suggest before proceeding further, you both engage in some counselling (you may have to deal with rejection), and approach the appropriate agencies for help in your search. A sensible place to start would be Stoke-on-Trent council's Social Services dept and the Salvation Army.

  7. Hi Jane,

Have you registered yet with International Soundex Reunion Registry?  It worked for me.  It's free.  Here's the link: www.isrr.net

  8. Only way I can help is=== wife an I wish you the best of luck in your search. As you know it will be difficult. I have a saying I made up==When you hang your head down, all you see is the dirt of the earth. When you hold your head up (as in proud an determined to reach a gold)  you might see clouds an dark days, but keep your head held high, the clouds will clear an things will turn bright some day.

Jane keep your head up, you an Daniel can reach your goal hopefully.

  12. Hi - are there agencies that can help you here?  I have a friend who was born in the UK and adopted.  She spent years trying to trace her parents, in the end she gave up and emigrated to Perth, Australia.  A year or so later she got a message to  call the UK location agency and they said - sit down - we have found your mother and she is happy to meet you - but you may not be happy, she moved to Perth many years ago and lives there now (they didnt' konw she was there, thought she was still in London).  Turns out her mother had been living 2 streets away in Perth, how weird is that?  My friend now has 2 children and is best of friends with her birth mother.  Things do work out.  I wish you luck.
