The debate over David Hussey’s controversial “obstruction of the field” in Australia’s last match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ian-Michael-Chappell-c63914 and Tony Greig voiced support for Indian
skipper MS Dhoni’s claims that the right-hander should have been given out.
The incident occurred in the match on Sunday as the batsman, while completing a run, put a hand out to stop the ball from hitting him, and ended up pushing it away from the stumps.
Dhoni appealed to the on-field umpires, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-Douglas-Fry-c90332, and later declared Hussey to be safe, much to
the Indian skipper’s disapproval.
“I think David was really lucky not being given out. He (David) thought he was protecting his face but his hand was too far ahead. I don't know why he was not given out,” Dhoni said after the match.
The ensuring controversy has spawned a rift of opinions among experts, as the Australian newspaper, Sydney Morning Herald, revealed.
“Former Indian batsmen and commentators, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Anthony-William-Greig-c45123 believed the Australian should have been given out,” the newspaper reported.
''There is no way Hussey should have got away with that. It was obstruction simple as that. That decision could change the result of the match,'' tweeted Greig.
The controversial call went on to prove costly for the Indian side, as Hussey (who had made 17 runs at that point) went on to score a substantial 54 off 64 balls, and established a 94-run partnership with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933. The hosts managed to post a score of
252, and their bowling attack ensured that the tourists were unable to chase the target. The Indian batting order crumbled at 165, all out.
The Men in Blue, currently at the bottom of the ongoing tri-series points table, have a narrow chance of making it to the finals, provided they are able to defeat http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and earn a bonus point in the upcoming match at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart, on February
