Is there a website or directory that lists what the payscale is for different jobs in australia? (mostly interested in medical positions, if that limits the question)

Medical positions, i.e. nurses can be covered under many different awards.

Australia has an extreme shortage of doctors, nurses and other health professionals, so much so that there is a special section on the Immigration and Citizenship website devoted to the medical profession. Australia has universal healthcare, but not nationalised medicine so a very large percentage of doctors are privately employed or work in both the public and private healthcare systems. Add to this the shortage of doctors and it is very much an employee's market so there are no set payscales for anyone but the most junior of doctors. Suffice to say, doctors throughout Australia earn high incomes.

Nursing incomes vary by state, qualifications and experience. See http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/nursing/pdf... for the nursing award in NSW. For other states, search on award wages nurses Queensland or whatever state you are investigating. Other health professionals should also be included somewhere on the award sites for each state. In the private healthcare system, suitably qualified people can often negotiate above award wages so the awards should be taken as a minimum.
