  1. Hi

Try a travel agent in Australia, alternatively I suspect it will be cheaper to fly to Bangkok in Thailand, it will take about 4 days to get a visa and they have flights to Ho Chi Minh city for about 60 australian dollars. There are lots of cheap hotels in the main tourist district (sorry I can't recall the name) , but you should be able to find it easily its the travellers hangout and tooms can cost as low as $5 (US) a night

Its a great place with fantastic people. Have fun and I hope this helped a little

  2. contact vn embassy in austrailia for visa.[ "e" mail , letter or phone] stay in the tourist/ back pack areas for cheap, clean ,safe lodgeing... you'll meet plenty of aussie and other tourists along the way to help you out.. i promis you this... in sai gon go to de tham street. in nha trang go to huong vuong street, in ha noi go to nguyen ngoc luong street, in sa pa or hoi an go any place.. stay away from mui ne and da lat, one is too expensive the other not very friendly to tourists...you're gona love vn...figure $40 a day bugget and you will live eat drink and travel [ plane /sleeper train] real well.. you can do it on $20.. but you'll be pinching penies [ and riding on busses] all day long

  3. Housing?  Don't worry about it.  It's really cheap.  And yeah, about $5 a night.  I've stayed at a place for 400000VND for a week.
