Australian media supports Argus Review and changes in Australian Cricket – Cricket News Update
The Australian media has given much support to the Argus Review of Australian cricket, conducted in the wake of a disastrous Ashes 2010-11 defeat.
"Avoiding cosy generalities, the Argus report has effectively ditched the entire selection panel and overhauled the backroom staffing," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Michael-Roebuck-c81836 said.
The review produced major changes in the team’s management, as it saw the sacking of Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gregory-Stephen-Chappell-c60820, has also been removed from his post
on Friday.
The Australian media revealed that the review held selectors responsible for the last year's Ashes loss.
All these changes were made after CA accepted the recommendations given by Don Argus, who conducted a seven-month long review on the Ashes defeat.
Peter also added that the review report suggested the need for immediate changes in the structure of the country’s cricket, which would provide a chance to cover up the flaws emerging in the past couple of months.
Now, CA has decided to form a five-man selection panel headed by a full-time chairman, along with two independent members.
Other than this, the Australian board has also given selection rights to the team’s captain and coach. Peter added that with such changes, it is expected that cricket in Australia will be run differently.
“The position is a full-time role. Andrew is not available to work full time. He has just started up a new legal practice so he is not available to apply for the role,” CA Chairman Jack Clarke said.
Hilditch said that he was satisfied with the recommendations of the review panel to appoint a full time-chairman and giving selection rights to the coach and the captain.

Media reports have also indicated that Australian players were happy with the changes brought in the management.
“The players found Chappell such an unsettling influence in the dressing room, particularly when they were batting, that they asked that he be excluded,” said a media report.
