Australian pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jackson-Munro-Bird-c65187 enjoys playing at Melbourne – Cricket News update
Hoping to become http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in Melbourne, right-arm fast bowler Jackson Bird, revealed that he enjoys playing at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808, at Hobart.
“The MCG is a great place to play. There's always a little bit in the wicket for the fast bowlers. I definitely do enjoy playing here ... My game works on being patient and trying to bowl the same ball every time and challenging the defence,” shared Bird.
The 26-year-old is running in the replacement race alongside left-arm fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MG-Johnson-c1945. While admitting that he might not have the swing of Hilfenhaus or the pace of Johnson, he believes that the consistency in his bowling can be very effective
on Melbourne’s drop-in pitches.
“Ben is more of a swing bowler where I tend to hit the wicket a little bit more. I certainly don't bowl as fast as Mitchell Johnson does. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daryl-Mitchell-c52533 is a great bowler and I suppose whoever gets the nod between me and him will hopefully do a good job,” added the
fast bowler.
Last year’s leading wicket taker in Sheffield Shield (with 53 victims to his name) following his move from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854, Bird, was announced as the tournament’s player of the year.
Taking most wickets in this season so far, Bird’s patience (holding a similar line through the game) has been the key behind his success.
Having a spectacular record at Melbourne, Bird has put 14 victims to his name in just two games. During his first game at the venue, the 26-year-old picked up 5 wickets each in both innings. Contrastingly, Johnson has been able to take only one 5-wicket
haul in his 8 appearances at Melbourne.
Bird has also revealed that he has been in communication with the selectors who have are impressed by his domestic show. Bird was hopeful that not being picked for Australia A this season would serve in his favour if he gets selected for the upcoming Test.
