Australian resident returning home on a cruise ship, want to book with US booking agent - is there a problem!

Hi - I am a resident of Australia working on a cruise liner as a fitness director and am looking to return home on that ship now that my contract has expired. Is there a problem booking with a US booking agent as many require me to be a US resident and hence am worried that the ones who have said they will accept my booking my result in me loosing my money given I am not a US resident. do I have a problem or should I feel comfortable booking with say bestcruises.com - please help me anyone
