Australian team hopes for a fresh start: News Update
After having cleared the much talked about concern over veteran Simon Katich’s exclusion from the squad, the Australian team now hopes to make a fresh start in the upcoming Tour to the Sri Lanka. The Test squad captain, Michael Clarke, cited that his players
are now ready and look forward to the scheduled trip.
Previously, Katich’s controversial exclusion from the Australian team had aroused some real concern over the issue. Katich was dropped by the Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 (CA) from their list of contracted players which received some out loud criticism from the former
Australian skipper Ricky Ponting.
“To be omitted from the contract list is a great shock to him. It was a shock to me,” added Ponting “his performance in the last two or three years has been as good as anybody’s in the world”.
The issue erupted after Katich was denied a CA contract despite the player’s productive performance with the bat over the past two years.
As for the upcoming series, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MJ-Clarke-c1978 aims to pull his side together and revive his team’s goodwill in the sport, since their defeat in the last Ashes series.
Michael Clarke took on the Australian test squad as the new captain, following the resignation of previous skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RT-Ponting-c2377.
However, Clarke’s new appointment came out with claims regarding supposed differences erupting between the two players. The new skipper declined any such rumors and stated that he was truly grateful to his former captain for helping http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 out as a player.
The Tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 is scheduled to kick off later in August this year and will proceed till September. The visit will be featuring three Twenty20 (T20) matches, three Test matches and five One Day International fixtures.
The officials from CA had recently made a successful pre-tour surveillance trip to the island and were assured for their team’s safe visit after the Sri Lankan cricket board suffered some financial crunches on its security budget.
However, despite such cuts, officials have made assurances that the security arrangements will be those provided during the 2011 World Cup and that the scheduled series will go about according to plan.
