Australian trainer, Peter Snowden, to train the Godolphin horses for 31st March night for the first time in history
Among the connecting strings of Godolphin Racing’s empire, is trainer Peter Snowden, who is responsible for the 250 horses that are stabled at Sheikh Mohammed Rashid Al Maktoum’s Darley stables in Australia.

He was brought into the Godolphin network when Ingham’s (for whom Snowden used to work previously), bloodstock holdings were bought by Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley operation. How influential would this trainer stand out to be after a number of years did
not become apparent initially.
Through the seventeen years for which the Dubai World Cup Carnival, specifically the Dubai World Cup night have now been held, the Godolphin entries into the instrumental races have always gone through the conditioning hands of either of the Godolphin
trainers, Mahmood Al Zarooni or Saeed bin Suroor.
However, this time when Sheikh Mohammed wants to race his Australian stars, Helmet and Sepoy, both of whom are under Peter Snowden’s conditioning, the Godolphin policy regarding the UAE trainers is in for a change.
In the last week’s meeting with the ruler of Dubai, Peter Snowden made sure that the owner of his horses understood the intricacies of letting their home trainer train them till 31st March.
“Our plan has always been to take both Helmet and Sepoy to Newmarket eventually,” Crisford explained. “But going through Dubai and having Peter training them right up to the big night we feel will help make it a very smooth progression from one racing
environment to another. Sheikh Mohammed will then take the decision which of his trainers then takes over their training.” The statement was passed on by Simon Crisford, who is the racing manager for the Godolphin Racing.
It will be for the first time in the history of the Dubai World Cup night that the Godolphin entries will get represented through an Australian trainer.

Helmet and Sepoy will don the blue silks of Godolphin, but without the names of the local trainers. Thus if any of the two horses succeeds in winning then the training credentials will come against Snowden’s name.
Instead of being conservative and conventional, Godolphin Racing yet again proved that it does realize, and take under consideration the broadening horizons of contemporary horse racing which are capable of calling upon policies and standards that
might not have come into mind ever before.
