Question:

Australian working holiday visa?

I have a working holiday visa for Australia. The visa was issued in September of 2007, and is valid for one year after my first entrance to Australia. However, once issued, I have to enter Australia within one year of the issuing date. This visa can only be obtained once in a life time.

My question is, I have the visa, but have not entered Australia on it. At this point, I do not plan to enter Australia by September 2008, and therefore, the visa will no longer be valid. Since it can only be obtained once, would I not be able to apply for a new one, if I should change my plans and end up wanting to go to Australia for a year later? Or would it just expire as "not used" and I'd be able to apply for a new one, later on?

  1. You might want to check with the Australien embassy in the US, and notify them of

your change in plans, and let them advise you on what you need to do.
