Australians finishing school (doing year 12) in UK?

Is this possible?

I am planning to do a year in France and then come home to Australia to do year 12, but then that just means I finish school in two years rather than one...

So my question is, can you just go to united kingdom (say ireland hehe) and do year twelve there instead? If you have like a host family or something? Or would I have to do year 11 and 12...

Our last year of school in England isn't 12, it's 13.

You would have serious problems doing just year 13, because the exams at the end of it are strongly based on you having done a two year course, both years 12 and 13. It's unlikely that the overlap with what you've been studying in Australia or France would be sufficient for you to cope (it's strongly recommended that you don't even switch school at that point). You'd almost certainly be advised to do two years.

(And Ireland isn't part of the UK, the education system there is probably entirely different. It's even different in Scotland which is part of the UK.)
