Australia’s former batsman Greg Blewett who represented the country from 1995 to 2000 believes that the current English team has all the hallmarks to stay at the top for a long time to come.
Speaking on the recent rise of England in Test cricket, the former Aussie said, “It's always painful to see the old enemy doing so well. But they deserve it. They're well coached, they've got a good captain and they've got a good side.”
Blewett, who scored three centuries in eight Ashes, advised the Australians to be aware of England’s dominance in the world of cricket even though the Australians are still a top team in the fifty over game, nonetheless, England have beaten Australia in
back to back Ashes which has left the former World Champions in disarray.
Meanwhile speaking on the improvements in the English squad, the former Aussie insisted that England at the moment were having the best pace attack in the cricket world which was the main reason behind their rise.
“Their quicks are going great guns and they're all pretty young so I see them having a pretty similar attack for a while. They've got four or five quicks that they can probably rotate through series after series so while they've got that attack ... they
will be pretty strong for the next three or four years at least,” said the 39-year-old Blewett.
England have recently become the number one team in Test cricket by dethroning http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 after winning the third Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham by an innings and 242 runs. The English needed a two victory margin to grab the number one spot and now they are leading
the four-match series against India by 3-0.
The former Aussie praised the English skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 for his great work with the team as a leader and believed that Strauss has a few more years in him to remain as the captain of the team which is currently rising at the top.
However, he pointed out at the lack of runs the English skipper was suffering from and advised Strauss to overcome this discrepancy which might force the team management to look for his replacement.
Speaking on the middle-order of the English batting line-up the Australian opined that it was solid and all the players were performing up to their maximum potential.
