Australia’s Krystal Weir clinches Laser Radial title: 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta
Aussie Laser Radial sailor, Krystal Weir put up an excellent sailing display on the Barcelona waters to prove her class and clinched the Laser Radial class title of the 2012 Delta Lloyd Regatta. The Aussie sailor hit the top podium place of the event with
22 points.
Weir took part in 10 races to compile 22 points, which also includes a discarded race points and a medal race. Weir performed consistently from the beginning of the regatta and clinched the overall lead until the finish of the regatta. Her aim was to hit
the leading position and claim the 2012 London Olympic spot with her form.
However, the Aussie sailor is still hoping for a good response from the authorities regarding her selection in the Olympic squad.
She had a slow start in the regatta as she grabbed some lower podium finishes which also included two fourth places. Nevertheless, she continued working hard and hit two bullets in the middle of the regatta which brought her on top of the fleet standings.
She ensured her victory after winning the final medal race.
Croatia’s Tina Mihelic secured second position overall with 37 points after performing up to the standards of the regatta. She was able to occupy second finish in the final medal race.
