Australia’s spinner Michael Beer aims to regain his spot in the side after sitting out in the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
He made his debut for Australia during the Ashes series in 2010-11. However, he failed to make an impression and off-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Michael-Lyon-c78822 was preferred on the Sri Lankan tour.
Although the left-arm bowler was disappointed at not getting an opportunity to play on spinner friendly surfaces, he was committed to improve and make a comeback in the team.
According to Beer, “The main goal for me is obviously to get back into Australian colours. Travelling in Sri Lanka and not getting a game over there was a little bit disappointing and I'm really hoping to force my way back into the team.”
He further added, “I think I can improve in every area of my game and that's what the selectors are looking for. From my bowling, to my batting and fielding, there are always things I can work on and the better at all of them I become, the better my chances
of playing for Australia are.”
Australia have struggled to find a quality spinner since the departure of legendary bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shane-Keith-Warne-c89672. He continued to play cricket in the cash rich Indian Premier League (IPL), but left a huge vacuum in his national side.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stuart-Charles-Glyndwr-MacGill-c91433, another leg-spinner in the Warne era, was the ideal person to take over the slow bowling department for the Kangaroos, but injuries and age did not allow him time to continue for long.
This left Australia in deep trouble as the team was vulnerable without a quality spinner, especially in Test cricket.
Off-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/NM-Hauritz-c2122 tried to make a mark at the international level, but injuries and lack of variety left him struggling.
At the moment, Australia have found a decent spinner in Lyon. The youngster made a very good debut against Sri Lanka in a recently played series. However, he will face the real test once the team plays on pitches with lesser assistance for slower bowlers.
The Kangaroos will next play against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and Lyon will be eying to cement his spot in the team by doing well on the tour.
