Australia’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MG-Johnson-c1945 unfazed by negative talks on future – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s star pacer Mitchell Johnson has claimed that he was least bothered about the talks regarding his Test career being finished after a struggling show in the past one and a half year.
The veteran bowler is currently recovering from a heel injury, which he picked up during the second Test of the two match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 recently.
At the end of the tour, Johnson had to undergo a surgery and will not be seen in action for at least six months.
Due to this, many critics believe that the left-arm pacer will no longer be able to make it back to the Test squad, as a few youngsters like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Cutting-c1132 have paved their way in the team.
However, Johnson is not worried about such speculations and said that staying out of competitive cricket for a while will help him focus a lot more than before.
The 30-year-old stated, “I'm taking a lot of positives from it. It gets me away from all the hype of the game and just to get me to really focus on what I need to do to get right to play cricket again. It has actually given me a good chance to work on a
few things, which I haven't been able to do for the last few years because of the full-on scheduling.”
He further added, “It gives me a good opportunity to get my fitness and strength back up and then work on some technique stuff with my bowling and my batting. I want to work with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dennis-Keith-Lillee-c53639 a bit more too.”
Johnson’s last performance against South Africa was an encouraging one and he will be hoping that the selectors would keep that in mind once deciding on his future.
The aggressive cricketer gave a very good all-round performance in that game, picking up a couple of wickets and scoring 78 crucial runs in the match as well. He remained unbeaten in both his outings on 38 and 40 respectively.
The most encouraging thing about this batting display was that the bowlers had plenty of assistance off the pitch.
However, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834 pacer should work hard on his bowling, which is his primary role for Australia. If he manages to do so, there is no doubt that the selectors will consider him in the future as well.
