Australia’s Neil Robertson aims to claim PTC event in Gdynia – Snooker Update
Former World Snooker Championship winner, Australia’s Neil Robertson performed consistently in the previous snooker season and was able to claim one of the Triple Crown of snooker, the 2012 Masters snooker tournament after beating the former World Snooker
Championship winner, Shaun Murphy by the score line of 10-6.
The Aussie was impressive at the baize against the veteran Murphy and did not let him take any chances to overpower the match.
Besides, the Aussie potter did reach the advance stages of some major and minor ranking snooker tournaments but could clinch a few of them. He performed up to the standards in the Players Tour Championship (PTC) in Poland, Premier League Snooker (PLS) and
the Championship League Snooker (CLS). His best performance was in the PTC 8 in October 2011 where defeated Judd Trump by the score line of 4-1.
Aussie will be heading once again to Poland to take part in the PTC in October 2012, which is also titled as Gdynia Open. The event is now a part of the 2012 World Snooker European Tour sponsored by Betfair. Robertson is looking forward to make an appearance
in the event and retain the title. The Aussie is now in good shape and believes he can make it possible.
While speaking to World Snooker, Robertson said, “The atmosphere there last year was absolutely terrific. Snooker is obviously getting really popular in Poland and you could see how much the fans enjoyed it. I performed much better in the European PTC events
than the domestic ones because the crowds in Europe really get into it.”
He added, “I'd really love to see the tournament in Poland develop into a full ranking event one day and I think snooker could have a real future there.”
Aussie potter has been consistent so far in the 2012-13 Snooker Season. Despite the fact that he was unable to win any major or minor ranking snooker tournament, Robertson is performing convincingly. He did show some great potting skills in the second UKPTC
where he reached the third round of the tournament but lost to the English potter Martin Gould by the score line of 4-0.
